Silk on both sides with decent quality self hiding zipper. Size left 3' of extra fabric on my memory foam pillow from sams, but when spread it seems loose and comfortable. Softened after first wash. Bought two and used outside of the recommended care patterns for 3 months. Held up well washing and drying with my sheets for 7 cycles now. There is some very minor pilling that I can see, but not feel agains my face. I've had two similar products in the same price range and this is the best value so far. Comes with a sample of the fabric so you can test it's authenticity and I found this test hilarious to share with my partner. We did not do the test.
