short and stubby

The length of the potatoe that can be used is much smaller than I would have like. I wanted long fries and these are only approximately 4 inches long. I also wanted the fries to be thicker in width. Neither of these deminsion were noted on the package. So I have short stubby fries instead of longer ones. They are not as long as McDonalds fries and when you cut off the end to square the potatoe up to fit the cutter, you loose extra length.
