Dry Compass Equator
A Renaissance Kunst Kammer was about exotic finds found in faraway mythical continents. Science and inventions were also coveted objects of desire. Other collectibles were exquisitely crafted objects with hard to see construction details. Platonic models in precious woods with spikes puncturing their sides were fascinating to contemporary collectors who closely guarded their highly skilled crafts men and women. Trompe l'Oeil paintings that suggested 3D objects painted in 2D were popular and collectible. Our spiked platonic was and is 500 years later still a scientific riddle. Mahogany. Hand crafted Exquisite. Bizarre.
