The ending.... oh, the ending

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED!!!!! OK, what happened to winter? When Nell was leaving with her boyfriend, they said winter was coming....... winter didn't ever seem to come? How did their house fall apart so quickly? I know the dad was fixing it up, but I feel like it just self destructed when the baby came. Why did they make no effort to alert the cops that the dad died? Why did no one come check up on them besides the boyfriend and that stupid Stan? Ugh. and you cannot raise a baby in a tree stump! Anyway - it could have been really good if it wasn't so slow and unrealistic.
