It's not smooth at all. It has a drag on the yarn.

this is a great idea but this was poorly executed. it's a wonderful little bamboo wooden crochet hook. it has been trimmed on the end and glued to a plastic tube which gives you a good long length. quite unfortunate, the glue is all over the plastic tube my hands are sticky, the yarn is sticky. it came with a nice little gift of a measuring tape. but the seller would gain from being sure that the plastic is clean and not sticky from the glue. if it would have been clean and not sticky all over my hands, I would have given five stars.
