revised south beach diet

I found this book very helpful and encouraging. Hub and I have been following the recommendations in the book. We are both diabetic and our doctor recommended we follow the eating plans as recommended in the book. It seems we are eating all day, about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. This would be hard to follow for a person working full time I would think. We have the honor of being retired so have time to spend most of the day in the kitchen. If not cooking I am doing prep work. I do my best to multitask the food entries. This diet is set up similar to Atkins with little to no sugar, however the SB diet also recommends low to no fat. Takes a lot of label reading when shopping. We live in a small town and some of the recommended food items are not available, which means I substitute and hope I am doing it right. Phase 1 is no fruit which I do miss, love cold fruit in this heat but I can go without for 2 weeks. Breaking meals down from 3 mains to 5 smaller versions, plus a sugar free dessert will help our sugar level stabalized and the concept is recommended for diabetics. The only drawback I have fond is that there is no recommended portion size in a lot of the recipes. For example it will say cook salmon with enough left over for the next day lunch. Does that mean we each get 2 oz, or 10 oz, no idea so I guess on that sort of thing. Another example is scrambled eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast but no idea how much of each. We are slowly loosing weight so something is working.

Good Diet Book

The South Beach Diet is a very easy to follow guideline to healthy eating. The book guides you through each step. It is very helpful if you read the entire book before beginning the diet. This will help to understand why you must do as it says and also keeps you motivated to what is to come. The exercise portion offered some information which is more current and actually corrected my thinking on the way to exercise.
