"The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn"

“The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn” by Mark Twain; tells a story of a boy named Huckleberry “Huck” Finn. In the story, the main characters are Huck(a boy who wants to be free of rules and not be civilized), Jim(a runaway slave), Tom Sawyer(a rebellious little boy who likes to rob people of their money), Pap(Huck's father, who wants Huck's fortune and beats him), Miss Watson(Jim's slave owner) and the Widow(a lady who wants to civilize Huck). Within this book, it takes place in the pre-Civil War era. One of the major conflicts in the story, is Huck and is father Pap relationship. Which cause Huck to fake his death and go on an adventure down the Mississippi River. On his adventure down the Mississippi River, Huck stops on Jackson’s Island and meets Jim, a runaway slave trying to reach freedom. While on their journey traveling down south the river, they make a wrong turn down the river and makes them keep traveling south. Making them face many harsh events against slave owners. This cause another major conflict in the book, because of Jim's ethnicity and the racial conflicts between Whites and African Americans. With each obstacle they face, it creates a bond between them. What stand out in my mind is that, the book creates a great perspective of the conflicts that are brought in the book. And how it teaches the history it provides in it, making it a masterpiece. I recommend this book to high schools. Because it is a book that sums up the educational merit and the history it provides to the students.

This American literature classic "Huckleberry Finn", was a very intriguing book. I believe that if you read the adventures of Tom sawyer that this book would be a lot less vivid. This books plot was very well written, but the grimmer, and the duologue which the people spoke was very hard to interpret. i really liked how Mark Twain (the author of the book) had Huck grow threw out the story. Also I like how the book was never boring and always had your attention. 1 thing I really liked was the setting too. I love the time period this book is in, well other than the part where African Americans are slaves. Speaking about that, I didn't like the assesive use of the n-word. I understand that that's how the people spoke back then, but I still think they could have used other synonyms like slave, blacks ect. If I had to choose a favorite character I would probably have to choose Jim. I would choose Jim because he isn't abusive like Huck's father pap, and he isn't trying to swindle people like the duke and the king. I really enjoy all the trials that Huck endures. Like how his father is abusing him so he runs away up north with Jim, hiding from towns folk, going by fake identities. I don't know why but I thought that was really cool. If I could recommend this book to anyone, it would be young African American children. I say the children because even though this book is fictional, slavery was actually going on at that time, so I think the children should learn what their ancestors went through at that time. this is everyone's different opinion, but I believe that the authors message to the people is that even though you were raised one way you still have a the opportunity to make that right derision. For example Huck was raised around slavery never acknowledging it was wrong. But once he ran away with Jim growing with Jim threw out the story Huck learned that slaves were people to, and that they should be treated with respect and dignity.
