Needs to be painted if using outdoors

Has label that says not to be used in wet environments. Picture shows it outside! Fairly easy to put together. After a week and 1 light rain, I started noticing that the wood was splitting and cupping. Now I'm having to paint. If u purchase my recommendation would be to paint each part before you put together. The “paint” that the details shows is no better than a gray wash
