Pacifica Island Art uses an environmentally-friendly Unryu Japanese rice paper made by the Awagami Factory in Tokushima, Japan. Unryu, which translates to 'cloud dragon paper' in Japanese, features long strands of kozo fiber and is made from natural mulberry and hemp fibers using traditional Japanese Washi techniques - ABOUT THE ARTIST - Christian Broutin - Christian Broutin (b.1933), a French artist best known for his work in movie posters (particularly during the French New Wave period), advertising and book illustration. Broutin graduated from the National School of Applied Arts and Crafts in 1951. He began working in cinema advertising under the artist René Ferraci and designed his first movie poster at the age of 21 for Fair Wind to Java (1954). Between 1954 and 1966, he designed over 100 movie posters, most famously for François Truffaut's Jules et Jim, which won the Toulouse-Lautrec poster prize in 1962. This design for Pickpocket was not used for the main campaign and is only seen on this small French size. It is one of my favourite French New Wave posters and is also Broutin's personal favourite of all of his movie posters.
