Ice melt pucks worked great for me.

It melts a hole in thick ice. I used it to melt 6 inch thick slabs of ice on the driveway. Water melted off the garage roof and froze day after day so it ended up 6 " thick and cars slid into garage doorway when trying to pull into garage. Pucks ate right through.

Great for tall roofs

Roof pucks are the most convienent way for us to keep our tall roof from getting ice dams when it snows. These work great, we use them every year, and they work fast. You just toss them up, and they start melting ice almost immediately.
