1. Make sure your dog is calm. Removing mats can be an extremely uncomfortable process for your dog. 2. Spray the coat with detangler. (This is not always necessary) 3. Brush your dog with a regular brush. 4. Hold the mat at the base. 5. Untangle the mat with your fingers. 6. Rub cornstarch into the mat. 7. Pick the mat. 8. Comb through it with a dematting comb.

Buying this because the one I had worked so well.
I purchased this because I had one before, for my malamute mix dog, and it works really well in getting to that famous undercoat that keeps snow dogs so warm. Since i gave away my old one when my dog passed away, am buying this one for a friend with an Alaskan Huskey dog. Highly recommended.
