I bought this for my friend's mom who is 94, who loves reading, but stopped reading due to not being able to read the small font on books. It arrived today ... I think it is perfect. Instructions are great for installing batteries, adjusting height, etc. It is light weight and should sit nicely on my friend's mom's lap with her holding her book underneath the magnifier. I tried it myself and the enlarged font for reading is great, and it sits nicely on my lap. The lighting feature is nice, too. The magnifier is very simple to operate, which will appeal to my friend's mom who doesn't like electronic gadgets (like a Kindle) ... so I hope she gets to resume her favorite thing to do ... reading books.
