HANDLING, WARRANTY AND REPAIR INFO IMPORTANT GUIDELINES FOR HANDLING FIBER CABLES Please read carefully 1. FIBER CONNECTORS AND SOCKETS MUST REMAIN CLEAN! IMPORTANT! Please install the dust-cap on all fiber connectors immediately after removal from their socket. Do not allow any connector to contact the ground without the dust-cap attached! TFS stands behind the quality of our cables and connectors. However, please note that tactical fiber cables must be handled much more carefully than legacy coaxial/copper broadcast cables. Customers should advise all personnel responsible for deploying tactical fiber cables of the critical importance of keeping the fiber tips at the end of the connectors (called ferrules) and their sockets, clean and protected from contamination or damage during deployment or retrieval. Unfortunately, we continue to observe production crew anxious to finish the day simply unplugging fiber connectors and reeling in cables without dust-caps in place…..not realizing that it only takes a small amount of dust or dirt on fiber cores to affect light transmission and create transmission issues which is apt to happen the next time the cable is used. TFS FIBER CLEANING KIT – A MUST HAVE FOR YOUR KIT! Customers are strongly advised to purchase a TFS FIBER CLEANING KIT (Only $79.95) to properly maintain their fiber optic cables. AVOID ROUTING FIBER CABLES THROUGH DOORWAYS! TFS tactical fiber cables are strong and crush resistant to foot traffic. However, they are not designed to withstand the acute force of being pinched between a door and its jam that is apt to cut the cable or fracture the internal glass fibers. If you must route a tactical fiber cable through a doorway – please ensure that the door is held open by a doorstop and not pinching the cable. WARRANTY All TFS cables and TFS connectors are covered by a one (1) year parts and labor warranty from date of purchase against manufacturing defects. Warranty coverage requires all cables and connectors to be handled carefully during deployment. Customers should instruct all personnel responsible for fiber cable deployment to adhere to TFS Fiber Cable handling guidelines as written above. The warranty does not cover the following: 1. Cables that have been cut or have deep indentations as a result of acute forces (i.e. pinched by door or routed over a sharp surface). 2. Contaminated / dirty fiber connectors that require cleaning. 3. Damage to fragile fiber tips on connectors due to improper handling. Typically due to failure to install dust-cap on fiber connector during deployment/recovery. In the event that our examination of returned products reveals a manufacturing defect in a TFS cable or connector, then it will be repaired or replaced without charge freight prepaid. If microscopic examination of the fiber tips of a connector (ferrules) reveals contamination or physical damage to a connector due to improper handling, then customer shall be responsible for repairs charges including return freight. If examination of a cable should reveal a cut or deep narrow indentation causing fracture, then customer will be responsible for cable repair or replacement cost including return freight. If a return is not covered by warranty, then we will contact you with a repair estimate and obtain authorization prior to making repairs. TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE: Contact the TFS Service Department at 877-777-7147 to discuss any problems with a TFS technician who may be able to help you fix the issue with some guidance. If not, then you will be directed to ship all suspect parts to TFS for examination and repair. Please do not return any products to TFS prior to receiving a return material authorization number (RMA#) from the TFS Service Department. TFS REPAIR SERVICES TFS maintains a fully equipped service department to clean or re-terminate fiber connectors and repair cables. TO OBTAIN SERVICE: Please contact the TFS Service Department at 877-777-7147 to discuss any problems with a TFS technician who may be able to help you fix the issue with some guidance. If not, then you will be directed to ship all suspect parts to TFS for examination and repair.
