Excellent customer support

I had a laptop go kaput and wanted to retrieve data off the hard drive, so I was eager to try out the Plugable SATA dock. It looked so simple to use, just line up the pins and stand the hard drive in the dock. I was able to remove the hard drive from my old laptop, but for some reason the pins didn't seem to be lining up. So I contacted Plugable for support using their email form. Their rep got back in touch within 24 hours and after some conversing and sending pictures of the pins on my hard drive, he answered my questions and fixed the problem! It turns out I had missed a step and not taken the hard drive out of the metal tray, which was something I had not realized needed to be done. The tray was preventing the pins from fully connecting to the dock. Once I got the hard drive connected in the dock I was easily able to claim ownership of my old files and transfer them to the new laptop. Data transfer was pretty fast, too. I'm very happy with this product.

Really great for data backup

I am reviewing Plugable brand USBC-SATA-V Drive Dock External - 1 x Total Bay - 1 x 2.5/3.5 Bay - Serial ATA/600 - USB 3.1 USB 3.1 GEN 2 10GBPS that I received as a Spark Reviewer. I first noticed, as I took it out of the box, that it was very lightweight but sturdy. Also, it is quite compact. This product is really cool and EXTREMELY easy to set up: literally Plug & Play. How I used it: it's playing the role of an FTP directory that I eventually configured within my DMZ...BUT...a novice can set this up for a simple home network access to an external drive...First, just Plug & Play to the USB ports on your router...Next, simply go to the Web Interface of your Router, and set up external storage (by the way, in the pictures, my current drive I marked in brown, and the new drive I have marked in blue)...Once you're done setting up the external drive via your router, you should be able to see it from your pc or laptop. The other great thing about it is that it has a flap at the top that adjusts for smaller HDDs. For some people, it's just a matter of plug and Play to your laptop or pc. Now, here's the thing, it can handle 10 GBPS depending on the SATA you use with it. For someone who has to back up a lot of data, this device works great. I highly recommend the Plugable brand USBC-SATA-V Drive Dock External - 1 x Total Bay - 1 x 2.5/3.5 Bay - Serial ATA/600 - USB 3.1 USB 3.1 GEN 2 10GBPS to anyone. It's easy to use, compact and sturdy, convenient, and works!

Just received!

I haven't had a opportunity to try this out yet... But I like the way it is set up! I have used others that take 3-4 cords, different adaptors... Just a pain! This is just straight forward!!! Plug in and go!!! Looking forward to seeing it working... I intend to retrieve all the lost photos from previous hard drives and hopefully use this as backup for future use!!! So far... Loving it!!!
