This print will look wonderful framed in the home, office or restaurant and is perfect for the Vintage Art Collector. - ABOUT THE ARTIST - Eugène Cordier - Eugène Henri Cordier (1903-2001), Cordier was born November 9, 1903 in Strasbourg. His father's family came from a French Huguenot line dating back to the seventeenth century who escaped the persecution in Paris and emigrated to Germany. His father, Alfred Cordier, settled in Alsace during the period of annexation of the province into the German Empire (1871-1918). He acquired a confectionery store on Main Street, where his son Eugène grew up. After studying at the Protestant Gymnasium of the city, the boy attended the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg from 1918 to 1922, where he was taught by his mentor Carl Jordan and where he met the painters Augustus Cammissar and Émile Schneider. He followed his parents and sister when they moved to Mundolsheim in 1930 and lived in the house where he spent most of his life until his death September 27, 2001. He worked as illustrator and designed many travel posters.
