I just absolutely love this steamer. I have this product already but I bought more as gifts for friends. This steamer makes steaming fresh veggies quick and easy. Steamed veggies allow for them to retain the vitamins that we are supposed to get from them without having to eat it raw. This steamer is the best solution for those who prefer to have their veggies cooked but yet who wants to gain the benefits of the veggie. With a little trail and error you can figure how long to cook: I normally to about 2 minutes at a time for softer veggies and test until it is the texture I prefer. For stronger type veggies I cook for 4 minutes first then 2-4 minutes thereafter until it reaches my preference. I also have a smaller steamer which I use to steam fish. The only con is the size does not allow to prepare a large quantity (for a large family) at one time. But the bright side of that is if you had a steamer for each person (or two) you can cook their veggies to their liking. My grandchildren love it because they get to help and fix their own dish of veggies. Just be careful and remove the dish from microwave yourself as it very hot to touch and if dropped the water remaining in dish is scalding. So whether you are trying to diet, trying to eat smarter and healthier, getting the family involved in cooking or just finding a better method of steaming...it is not completely kid safe in handling after cooking but it is absolutely the best for quick and easy steaming.
