Dieses Buch beinhaltet eine Zusammenstellung von Ergebnissen der Trinil-Expedition 1907 und 1908 auf Java hinsichtlich der geologischen und paläontologischen Erforschung der Pithecanthropus-Schichten. Die Expedition wurde mit Unterstützung der Akademischen Jubiläumsstiftung der Stadt Berlin und der Königlich Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften durchgeführt.
