when built they are very sturdy. I was able to put my full weight into them on a steep trail and they did not slide down. I like the wire snap together feature better than the standard slide in and clip type. I also like that the cable keeps the peices together when disassembled.

I needed a spare pair of walking sticks to keep in my car for unexpected events. I live in the middle of nowhere and sometimes we stop on the way to or from shopping in the nearest town to do a little hiking. Or, sometimes, my knee goes out unexpectedly when we are in town, so having a walking stick handy is a good thing. These sticks fold up into a nice compact bag. Great for keeping under the seat for emergencies. The only problem is, the instructions were not clear and putting them together the first time was a chore. The secret is to pull the whole thing out until a little nobby thing pops out of the hole at the very top of the pole. That holds the pole tight. But you have to pull farther than you would guess. The instructions didn't show the hole or the thing that has to pop up out of it. But once you figure that out, the pole is nice and strong. I highly recommend these poles.
