My son is 4ft 10 in and 70lb. 11 yrs old and in the petite range for his age. I ordered the 11/12 and it's a bit roomy but I think I chose the perfect size that he will be able to wear it next year unless he has a major growth spurt. I haven't washed it yet but it's a nice quality coat that I believe will hold up well on the cold/delicate wash cycle and hanging to dry.
