When it arrived my eyes lit up at how stunning and classy these looked. The weight of the package gave me the impression of quality plates. Here is where I am torn. The plates feel a bit thin and are flexible making you wonder if you could use them for food that might be heavier. Like spaghetti or meats. I started to think they might be better for display such as to hold cheese and crackers. Then, I tested them with object you would know. For heat testing I was making bacon in the oven , put down a paper town on them and loaded it up. Not an issue! They didn't flinch or show signs of stress. But what about weight? I have an android cell phone I call the brick because it's heavy. I placed it on the plate and sure enough it was just fine. It's as though once there is weight on the plate, it balances and does just fine. A bit pricey, but they are indeed elegant and passed my tests. They are stronger than you think once you are using them.
