Impossible to clean!

Having lived with this for 5 months, I wish I could return it. It is impossible to clean. The rivets catch the dirt and the texture holds on to it for dear life! My cats love it as it feels like a scratching post, it is not soft. It is very well made and the color is gorgeous.
