Great Vise and Great Service

I got this a few weeks back when Eastwood had put them at over 50% with free shipping - think it ended up running 93.00 (with tax) - sometimes Eastwood just doesn't care about making money, I guess lol. Great company, Eastwood, with awesome customer service. Anyway this thing is a Monster 8"x8"x3.5" Cast Steel Yost Vise.. Is it Forged Steel or Ductile Iron? No... it's basically the same steel you would use in an Anvil...tough as can be and all three materials are in the range of "Yeah, so far past cast iron.. what's the point?" Jaws line up perfectly. Screw turns like a dream. No complaints at all...I work my tools hard...metal working...and this almost stacks up to my Yost FSV (Forged Steel Vise) and that's saying a Lot. That said...this isn't a hobby vise. Pretty large and weighs about 50 pounds. It opens out to 8 inches. So if space is a concern it does take up some and it's more than an occasional user might want to mount in his garage. But for metal work, frequent shop use or as a large general use vise on a farm? You definitely won't go wrong with this one.

Pretty good for the price

Out of the box vice functions well. Jaws line well every time. The design of makes it hard to install so that hangs over the side of your bench. Most concerning is how thin the base is hopefully it will hold up to hard use.
