The Perfect Solution for Tricky Doorways

I originally chose the Yale Smart Lock because my door configuration wouldn't allow for a standard deadbolt installation. It has turned out to be the perfect solution for my needs. Installation & Setup The physical installation took some time, though I want to be clear that this wasn't the fault of the Yale hardware. My door's original opening hadn't been drilled correctly, so I had to modify the cutout to get everything to fit. Once the door was prepped, the lock went in smoothly. Pro-Tip for Z-Wave Users If you are using the Z-Wave module, I have one crucial piece of advice: Pair the lock before you bolt it to the door. The pairing process requires the lock to be within 3 feet of your Z-Wave router/hub. It took me a fair amount of troubleshooting and maneuvering to get the hub close enough to the door after the lock was already installed. Save yourself the headache and sync the electronics while they're still portable! Final Verdict Since getting it installed and successfully paired, the lock has worked flawlessly. It's reliable, responsive, and I absolutely love the convenience it adds to my home.

Great Upgrade to a Standard Lock

I added this smart lock to another side entrance door that goes into a mudroom on my house. I have several of these locks by Vale and they've always worked nicely. The installation was once again fast and easy. The lock has a lot of great features for your convenience. You can use the keypad to enter your code or your smartphone to open the door. I've never had any issues with the locks not working when coming home. The lock still has a standard key option in case there would ever be a problem. The keypad is also backlit, which is great when you're in a dark area like this one is at my house.
