Drawn from many years of experience in selling, marketing and distributing another brand of chuck, the design of the Robert Sorby Patriot Chuck incorporates all the key features which turners look for in a scroll chuck. Because they started with a blank slate, Sorby determined that there were to be no compromises in the design.

This 4 jaw chuck is compact in design so it won't strain lathe bearings, yet it is ideal for all sizes of projects. It uses a spindle insert system so there are sizes available to fit most commonly used lathes. (NOTE: Spindle Inserts sold separately)

The single key operation with positive location, teamed with true compression angles on drive and driven gears, smoothly and easily opens and closes the jaws in unison. The key is also articulated to allow access behind large projects. Jaw stops prevent the slides from working loose.

The body of the chuck has an enclosed back to protect gearing against dust but, should you need to, the back plate is removable for easy maintenance and cleaning. A unique silicone safety band on the rim helps to protect turners from injury caused by contact with the outer edge of the chuck while it is rotating.

With a wide selection of useful, perfectly matched jaws from which to choose the Patriot chuck gives additional versatility and ease of use. The jaws are dovetailed on the inside and outside face and additional serrated teeth on the jaws give extra grip.

Chuck is 4" in diameter and weighs approximately 4 lbs. Made in Sheffield, England.
