TRENDnet TEG-S82g, 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch

Routers have only four Ethernet ports, so a small switch comes in very handy indeed. My old switch was way too large for my needs and only 10/100, and since my router is gigabit, that switch down-scaled the speed. So I was very excited to get this little gigabit switch. It has enough ports (8) to support a robust home network or small business since most things run over WiFi these days and only certain things are better hard-wired, i.e. printers, main powerline adapter, servers, HTPC and extenders. This switch is so small that I sat it right on the empty surface of my UPS backup power block. Like any switch I've ever used, you can plug the incoming cable into any port and then all the others are live out. So simple. It's working great. I haven't replaced all my Ethernet cables to cat 5e or higher, so not yet achieving the gigabit speed, but I trust it will be there when I do. The power cord is 49” long with a 2-prong adapter plug. It comes with rubber feet to stick on. The metal case measures 6x3.5x1.25” with feet on, and it has no holes to hang it on the wall. I recommend this compact fast switch.

It comes with rubber feet to stick on. I highly recommend this compact fast switch. This is a good solution as a low power and silent gigabit switch that runs cool and is low cost.
