I love it!

Great retro mini arcade game! Fantastic presentation with the cabinet decals and packaging. A lot of people are complaining about the monochrome LCD graphics on the display, but I really like their retro style and they don't interfere with my gameplay. The sound is perfect. The game really invokes some great feelings of nostalgia, and it's a lot of fun too.

Asteriods Mini Arcade Game

This is a coleco-esk game with LED graphics...but the sound is spot on! It has the large and small UFO too! Sure...the graphics are a bit dodgy....but I would have crawled through broken glass as a kid for this. The sound is top notch! Maybe they will figure out the vector graphics for this size soon...until then, I like it! Also, the cabinet is a 5 star!

These things are either awesome or terrible.

I can't tell you how excited I was to see Asteroids in store last week. I've played the actual arcade cabinet in the day and it was one of my favorites. The packaging and cabinet art work looked amazing. Then I picked it up and tried out the demo. They went back to using a static LCD monitor! The game looks and plays nothing like the original. Your ship rotates around a large invisible circle, there's no animation to speak of, and the game is completely unplayable. This is a paperweight in the shape of an Asteroids cabinet. Why they went in this direction with Asteroids (and the new Pac-Man by the way) is a complete mystery. Save your money for the new Frogger. They did a great job with that one and is perhaps the best of the bunch (it plays just like the actual arcade game). The best ones to get are... (1st) Frogger, (2nd) Qbert, (3rd) Centipede....., and the rest should be forgotten like the old Tiger handhelds of the '80s.
