I love this clip. It's made of strong steel and heavy-duty rubbery foam. I've always strapped in my purse when grocery shopping but couldn't use the cart straps when I had my wee ones with me. Anyway, this easily clips onto a shopping cart handle as well as my full-size stroller handle. It has a combination lock which provides extra safety and peace of mind (so my eyes can stay on my kids and not so much on my purse/bags). The clip is very durable. I don't know what the weight limit is, but my purse is a good 10 lbs. and it appears that a lot more weight can be added. It does warn on the packaging, not to overload one side of cart/stroller, as it could cause tipping if unbalanced, which is understandable and expected. When I use my stroller for outings, it is always packed full, especially if going to the beach or mall shopping…really anywhere I'm going to be out for awhile. Food, sippy cups, diaper bag and purse already fill the bottom of my stroller. This clip just made it a lot easier to shop, tote/carry. If I had to purchase one of these hooks, I would probably get the next size up though, but that's just better for me because I do tend to pack/carry/bring a lot of just-in-case items. I think this would be a wonderfully adaptive safety clip to use just about anywhere, by anyone. I'll be keeping one of these in/on my purse at all times, especially when I go shopping. Precaution and prevention of loss/theft is worth the small measure of using this hook…especially when related to safe-guarding items like identification and credit cards.
There is a place my husband and I take the kids every year that has a train ride. Whenever we ride the train, we have to leave our stroller behind, which bothers me a bit, but I can now have peace of mind about being able to lock up our stroller to the wooden rail slats nearby. I think this is a must-have item for anyone who takes a stroller or wagon to any theme park, too.
Setting the combination(s) is easier than I thought it would be. It comes preset at 000. You pull down on one side to unhinge. To personalize the 3-digit combination, you simply open the hinge, push in the rubbery button (that's nestled into the open hinge) with a pen-tip; keeping the pen tip pressed in while changing the 3 digits to a different #. I was able to do this many times by myself. What is a bit odd to me, is that while you set a 3-digit combination on one side of the hook, the reverse (back) side is shown. This could be slightly confusing if you don't always keep your hook attached the same way and remember whether it's the left side or right side that has to be the correct combination. For example, if I set the combination to 415, the back side shows 960. So just know when you're out and about and go to unlock the hook; if it doesn't open, you know you're putting in the combination on the wrong side. You could always mark the metal with permanent marker or paint it with nail polish…or simply remember that the lock lies on the left side when laying flat.
This is a multi-purpose strong hook/clip that anyone of any age would find highly useful. You could lock-up pantry/cupboard doors, pet leashes, bikes, wagons, strollers, your purse, shopping bags, spare car keys attached under your car, or attach your purse to your belt-loop if need-be…the uses are endless.
