The Pioneer Woman Cowboy Rustic 12" x 18" Acacia Wood Cutting Board, Brown

I like The Pioneer Woman Cowboy Rustic 12 x 18 Acacia Wood Cutting Board. Although I prefer a mid-century modern vibe, this rustic board fits in quite nicely. It is made of acacia wood, which is lightweight and water resistant. The board is about one and a half inches thick and looks like it would be heavy. However, it is as light as my bamboo cutting board, which is about half as thick. It is so light, I thought it was hollow. It is not hollow. I know this by knocking on it all over. There is no “hollow" sound at all. I took a close up picture of the grain. I think it is beautiful. There is a smooth side on top and a slightly rougher, “fuzzy" side on the bottom. This is nice because it keeps the board from sliding. If you look on the side, the words “The Pioneer Woman" are there to show where the top and bottom are, (the words will be upright when you have the top on top). I've used it several times to chop veggies, fruit, etc.. It wipes up easily and dries quickly. Of course, it is not dishwasher safe. When things get messy and the bottom gets wet, it's easily wiped down and the thick board is easy to stand on its side to let air flow dry the top and bottom. The instructions say that if the board starts to look dull, wipe it down sparingly with some mineral oil. I've not had the board long enough to have to do that. But, I've done that with other boards. So, that's not a big deal. I think The Pioneer Woman Cowboy Rustic Acacia Wood Cutting Board is a lovely cutting and serving board. I am quite pleased and love the beautiful acacia wood. I would recommend it to everyone.

This is a nice, quite thick, & well made cutting board, & that's a great investment. The (dual) surface of this cutting board isn't slick, in fact, it's a bit rough. Any new equipment, cutting boards more specifically, should be washed & sanitized before using. In addition to this, I found that I wanted to oil it as well. The surface was just too dry for my liking, & I always have olive oil handy. This cutting board has a great weight to it, & I got it, with the honey in mind. Space is a premium in the little kitchen, so we have to bring the cutting board out when we want to prep something. It fits very well inside a drawer, that is under the counter top. This is good for two reasons. The first being if you want to store it in a drawer, you can do that, keep in mind that it will take up the drawer. Second, is that you can turn it sideways & get a lower cutting board or extend your work area a little more. The color of the wood matches very well with the kitchen, it isn't an eye sore or out of contrast when the cutting board is stored. This Pioneer Woman's cutting board is thick enough that over time, you will be able to sand off any surface imperfections, if they ever crop up. Do be safe with any cutting board, especially one that is wood. Cleaning & sanitizing this board isn't difficult & it easily fits in the sink. No, it is not dish washer safe. Hand wash, sanitize & air dry.
