KidKraft Pirate Winged Fairy Dress Up Costume

I am not sure what I expected, but this was not it. This is so beautiful! One of the first things I noticed was the inside layer of the skirt is really soft. The inside of the top of the dress is lined and also very soft. There are a lot of play dresses that are not lined and can be itchy. The pictures I saw, it looks like the dress goes to mid thigh. On my child it went to right above the knee. There is some growing room, but not a lot thru the torso. My child wears a 4T and I got a medium, which seems to be the perfect size. I have another child that is a 3T and it is a little big on her still, but could be worn for dress-up without falling off. The children LOVE the dress! They took turns wearing it and running around flapping the wings. They felt pretty. My children are skinny, but as I said earlier the torso does not have much room for growth with the medium. Makes me wonder for children of normal to large stature, would this be too snug? Also, the dress because more snug thru the torso, was a little difficult for them to get their arms thru. I was worried it might get ripped, but so far so good.

This costume worked perfectly for my 2 year old daughter this year for Halloween trick o' treating and will continue to be great for dress up. It is very nicely detailed with gold trim, tiny gold fabric roses throughout, and a small attached belt/belt buckle on the front. The fluffy netted skirt is fully lined inside and the top is a nice plush (non scratchy) fabric. The fairy wings are securely attached to the costume and also can be attached to the fingers via loops to flap, spread out, or can just hang down behind. Since the wings are just fabric, they do not impede with arm/shoulder movement and are not uncomfortable to lean up against while sitting. My daughter no longer likes sitting in a stroller, so using a wagon to go trick o' treating around the neighborhood in, it was important that the costume accommodate her needs. The costume stayed comfortable for her all night and never once did any of it get caught, stepped on, or cause any type of injury. The costume was the perfect length for her, but was very loose on the top. Using a small rubber band I tied the straps of the costume together in the back, which made for a better fit for my tiny daughter. Since the costume is not any longer, I'm sure the costume will not be able to fit by next year-so is only designed to be able to fit 2-3 year old girls. I also had to add a couple of accessories to complete the pirate fairy look, since there was nothing included to put on the head, legs, feet, or to carry in the hands, but thankfully I had everything needed on hand already. The costume, like so many others, is not machine washable, but can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth. Overall, a great costume that will actually last after Halloween.
