Big Time Toys YoYo Ball (Styles Will Vary) Handheld Returnable Yo-Yo

My youngest really wanted a yoyo. Now after having spent money on countless yoyos for my older kids I decided to go a different route. I am so glad I did. My 5 year old loves this yo-yo ball. Perfect for him since he's a beginner. He feels like a pro, and I didn't have to put up with whining or the chore of winding a yoyo up over and over.

This is such a fun toy! Our four-year-old daughter has been playing with it pretty much every day since we got it. It is like a yo-yo in that you hook the string to your finger and jerk your hand downwards to make it go away from you. But it is different in that it is round, like a ball, and you don't have to do anything to make it come back to you--there is a spring of some sort inside that makes it wind back up automatically, so it just zips right back up to your hand. It's really a lot of fun and, for a younger kid or one who never could master a real yo-yo (...like me), it's great fun. I will say it takes a little practice to get it to extend fully on the string; it really needs a fair amount of force for the ball to go away from you. I think maybe as the spring loosens up a bit with use, it gets a little easier, but, then, even with practice, our daughter got a whole lot better at it, too, so it's just a matter of using it. The design on the one we got wasn't what the description said (checkerboard, I think?); it is purple with a green swirly on it, so it looks cool as it rotates. The plastic of the ball is good and hard and seems to be quite solid. Our daughter has yet to crack it, at any rate, and she has dropped it a few times (and perhaps thrown it once or twice). We love it.
