This stuff works great!

I had a very slow-draining bathroom sink. I tried Drano, actually used an entire bottle. No help. Finally, I called a plumber. He showed up with this product- Thrift Drain Cleaner. He told me that plumbers hate being called to clogged drain complaints. Before he left his shop, he grabbed a jug of Thrift. He showed me how to use it. He got the hot water going, shut the water off, put about a cup of Thrift on the drain, then started up the hot water again. Once all the Thrift was dissolved, he shut the water off and we waited 60 seconds. I could hear the Thrift working. Next we ran the hot water again. The clog was gone! Fantastic product. I bought 8 pounds.

So Far So Good!

My drains (tub, bathroom sink, and kitchen sink) have been slow moving (intermittent clogging) for over a year now. I've tried all recommended methods- vinegar with baking soda, liquid plumber, and other chemicals. My next step is contacting a plumber but I came across Thrift via a google search and watched a couple of videos on how to use it. I figured this would be the last thing I tried and yesterday I finally used it. It needs hot water to be activated and it says it works in 60 seconds. Since all of the other products I've tried have promised fast results I was very skeptical of this one. The reaction was very visual and my kitchen sink resembled a mini eruption. Time will tell how long the drains stay running unclogged but as of now Thrift has lived up to its promise and I'm pleased.

Thrift is the best... Period.

Thrift is lye in pebble form. Thrift was almost solely and still is primarily available in plumbing supply shops. There is a reason for that. This stuff works! Water must be flowing so handle it before it is 100% clogged. Be sure to heat the pipes and it's better to use boiled water to pour in after you put it in the drain. The hotter the water the better it works, but hot tap water will work also. It will not eat the pipes like sulfuric acid. You can get lye mixed with aluminum powder at any hardware store, but I prefer this. There are some videos on Youtube.
