Homedics SoundSpa® Ultra Portable Rechargeable Sound Machine, SS-6050

I am very happy with this little sound machine, it is very easy to use, has a great selection of sounds to choose from and the sound quality is great, it really does fill the room with sound. The first thing I would like to point out is that the machine is rechargeable only via the included USB cable, there is no option for batteries or to plug it in to a wall unit so keep that in mind if purchasing for yourself or for a gift. I have had it for a week and only had to charge it once, and it took about 2 hrs to charge fully. There are many reasons as to why someone would purchase a sound machine, simply to tune out unwanted noise or night time to help you fall asleep, but I have found another good one, I have an 11 yr old son with Autism who really likes this as well, often I will find him taking this out of my room and into his, he will simply turn it on while he is playing and it is very calming for him. So for those who have someone in there life with special needs, this could be something worth trying. As for the machine itself it is not very big, a little over five inches wide and about one and a half inches high, the body is a glossy white with silver trim and it is pretty light weight. Overall this is a great product, I would highly recommend.

Ok so I am not quite sure how I felt about this HoMedics Sleep Solutions Sound Soother. There are both plusses and minuses. I will start with the minuses. First, it is super tiny (about the size of a soda can). I’m not sure why I assumed it would be larger. Second, it comes with a very short USB charging cable so it has to be almost right next to the USB port in order to charge. Third, some of the sounds are little strange and muffled. Like “fan”, the sound is kind of muffled like how a fan would sound if something was up against it and “ocean” which sounds so muffled you can’t really tell what it is and “dockside” which sounds exactly like “ocean”. On the plus side, the small size does make traveling with is very easy. I personally liked “zen” and “thunderstorm” and “everglades” (which also sounds like “rainforest”. I also like the sleep timer function so I can set it and fall asleep to it. It does have volume control which is great and the brochure states 4 hours of charge time will give you 12 hours of playtime. I do wish it came with the ability to connect headphones in it. I always wanted to bring one of these to the office but I know someone will be asking where the crickets are coming from! The great thing about these HoMedics products is they keep changing for the better so I’m excited to keep trying their products! Time to relax!
