Good quality

I haven't used this nut splitter yet, but have had a couple of them in the past. This one seems sturdier and a better overall design. This splitter has the stationary wedge on the body rather than the threaded tensioner. This is the better style. Can't wait to use it... well I'll actually be happy if I never have to use it but I think from the design it will owkr quite well.

Solid

I intended to use this to assist with extracting some rusted bolts in my vehicle’s frame. This tool came in handy and held up to the task. To get a good split on a hardened steel nut, I typically had to max it out, take it off and use an oscillating tool to open up the wedge mark, reapply it and max it again. After that, turn the nut/bolt to the opposite side and apply the same technique there, effectively splitting in half. For $20 and the removal of some bolts that have been a total pain for months now, I am very satisfied with this tool. It held up very well. I did get a small chip in the wedge on one side, but it still split hardened steel nuts without an issue afterwards.

saved my knuckles many times

Being recently retired, I purchased a 78 MG to rebuild as a toy. In rebuilding the suspension on said MG I found many nuts frozen ( not unexpected ) but also in such tight quarters that you could not get a good pull on the wrench or studs toosmall to take pressure of removing nuts. This nut splitter saved me many bloody knuckles, broken studs and expensive repair work replacing snapped off studs. I would recommend this tool to all who need to remove frozen nuts without damaging either the bolts or studs.
