I'm learning about history and enjoying it!

I love this series and especially appreciate learning about the history of Henry VIII acting to dissolve the monasteries in England, which changed the medieval order of things significantly. This message is relevant still today.

My Lord Cromwell.

Engrossing and some of the best performances from a great cast. Mark Rylance as Cromwell is subtle and nuanced. Good to re-watch just for the pleasure of it.

Best Study of Henry VIII's Court On Video

Thomas Cromwell is perhaps the most mysterious figure in the bizarre court of Henry VIII. The son of a blacksmith, he worked his way up to influence Henry's chief Cardinal (Wolsley) into making him a power broker within a very corrupt court. This series does a fine job of tracking Cromwell's growth to power, and eventual downfall. The accuracy of the 16th century milieu is especially fine, and all of the actors are very good. Highly recommended.
