Solid Stove... and it's HUGE!

I've owned a Sol for almost 10 years now and it is finally showing its age. The Joule was intended to be the replacement. However, the Joule is ENORMOUS by comparison and is probably a bit overkill if I'm doing any solo trips. It's entirely my fault that I overlooked the size difference. That being said, I will definitely be keeping this stove. It fills a huge void for any trip with 2 or more people. With my old Sol, I very stricktly used it for ONLY boiling water. In part, because it's not all that great to cook in but mostly because cleaning out the cylinder pot was a pain in the you know where. While I haven't yet had the chance to try to do anything beyond boil water in the Joule, I'd feel much more comfortable with giving it a try. I realize that I'm comparing apples to oranges, but I think it's important to realize that this system will take up about as much space in your pack as a sleeping bag, which is a lot in my humble opinion. Might be helpful for JetBoil to show a side-by-side size comparison of their stoves for reference (it's quite possible that they do, and I just missed it). In the end, the Joule will definitely serve its purpose. Now off to pick up a smaller stove.

fast

Boils water for 50 oz coffee press plus a couple of cups for tea about as fast as getting the coffee into the press and without boiling over. Sumo is not quite big enough for this.

Best cold weather stove ever.

I've owned my Joule for five years now and would never take another stove on a winter camping trip again. It thrives in cold weather, and will bring a full pot of near-freezing stream water to a full boil in about three minutes, which is impressive. No more keeping gas canisters in your sleeping bag overnight, just start it and the flame heats the canister safely and builds the pressure almost instantly. After five years I clogged a valve, likely from a dirty canister, and the flame was reduced. I emailed Jetboil for a repair request, received a RMA within 24 hours and mailed the stove back. It took a little longer than expected, but when Jetboil couldn't repair it within the time promised they sent a replacement stove which will now keep my friends warm and fed in NH's Pemigewasset Wilderness in February. With three other Jetboil stoves in my arsenal, including the Genesis Base Camp System, I'm sold for life.
