Really Handy

Okay--in a house with a dog and 4 cats, we have a lot of water dishes--everything from your regular water bowl, to a glass on the bathroom counter because that's the only place one of the cats will drink. The dog isn't really a problem, she doesn't care where the bowl is as long as she can get to it, but cats can be a little picky; they like to have their water fresh, changed at least once a day, and moving water is even better, hence, one of them will swipe the water with her paw so it's moving a little before she drinks. Anyway, this has captured all but one of them so far, and I'm hoping he will change from the bathroom counter soon. The one I received was missing the filter, so I had to order one before I could try it out, but they are inexpensive, last 2-4 weeks, are easy to put in and take out, and I'd be ordering more anyway, so a pack of 3 worked out well. The Hy-Drate is easy to set up--open up, rinse the filter to remove any carbon dust, position in bowl with the 3 suction cups on the bottom, plug it in, make sure it's covered with water, and that's it! My snoopiest cat watched the entire process, and was fascinated by the ripples in the water; she was hooked right off. Then the dog discovered it, then two more cats. I'm hoping to get rid of a couple of water bowls soon..... It's small, quiet, a very good idea.

Small, smart and useful

I really like that the Guardian Aqua Hydrate universal pet fountain can be used with any water dish. It's about the same size as a standard computer mouse so it's not big or bulky and leaves plenty of room for the pets to drink. The color blue is really nice that it doesn't attract attention so the dog isn't trying to get it out or play with it. I can actually take it with me on vacations so it's good for filtering water from other sources that are different from our home water. I'm using it now and while it does agitate the water it's not by much, the ripples are very slight so there is no way to know if the water is being cycled through the filter, you just trust that it is. I keep the bowl full and if you lower the water level, there is more agitation but it's still not too much. The idea that it traps small particles is particularly nice because I usually have to empty and refill the dogs' water bowl a few times a day to give her fresh water. The Aqua Hydrate not only keeps the water fresher and cleaner but it also helps me to save water here, too. I like that!
