Nicely balanced

Bought this to replace my original Shakespeare rod that lasted for 12 years before breaking the tip off by stepping in the wrong place in my boat. This new replacement just got a good once over while Walleye fishing yesterday. The tip action is a bit more lighter than my old medium rod but it did nicely while hooking 6 good size Walleye and a 3 pound Channel Cat. All in all .... it acted in true Ugly Stik fashion that we've all come to expect!

Great "fast action" Rod

Let me begin by saying I am 50 years old & own 50 fishing poles. When I opened the box, I thought they sent me a 7 ft. Medium action, instead of a Medium Light, but it was the Medium Light. The pole is light, but stiff & I liked the new eyelets. I would say the handle (the grip) is for normal sized man's hands, like most other rods. I immediately took this rod on a 2 day Michigan trip. It was GREAT for: 1/2 rat-L-traps & spinner baits. Understand the fast action, means, most of the action is in the top half of the rod. This " fast action", makes this the an absolutely PERFECT, walleye trolling rod, when using: crawler-harness's or crank-baits. I am confident it could handle steelhead. This pole's action is similar to the Ugly Stik light, however you don't have to worry about your friends looking down on you. This pole is very elegant looking & has the quality of poles I have paid twice as much for. If you want a true Medium Light pole, with regular action. I recommend the Ugly Stik, Inshore Select.

Confidence in rod!

I have a small 13 foot v bottom that I have constantly broken rod tips and eyelets stepping on the rods in the dark. With my new Ugly Stik , one of 6 that I have recently purchased, I no longer am frustrated with broken equipment . I have bought a one 5' , one 6'6", two 7' and two 7'6" rods. I would by a crappie ugly stik 10' or 12' if they made one....lol. Great equipment rugged and sensitive!
