I cannot tell you that I have a lot of experience with battery grips. Let me tell you what I've experienced so far though. I shoot sports, portraits, and occasionally weddings, like yesterday. I've had the Canon 30D, 7D, and 7D Mk II, and now the 5D Mk IV. Never had a battery pack, but have often thought about purchasing one. Cost was always a concern. I will continue to use the 7D Mk II for daytime sports, but the 5D Mk IV for pretty much everything else. The 5D Mk IV is a battery pig!! Yesterday's wedding and reception went about 6 hours. I didn't have to stop to change batteries once. So pleased about that! It felt good to keep on keepin on and not have to stop! At least not for battery exchange.I purchased the Green Extreme battery grip because of price, rating, and feedback, which was mostly favorable. I agree with the positive feedback in that it's easy to use and lightweight. All buttons function correctly and I don't have any issues with operation. It feels a "little" plasticky, but for the amount of money I'm paying, I can certainly work around that. It does what I bought it for with ease, so I give it a thumbs up.I'm going purchase a version for my 7D MkII next.

Great grip at an even better price.
This grip fits well on my 5d MK IV. Much less expensive than the OEM battery grip. I am not sure why the Canon grip is so expensive but this one appears to do everything the Canon grip does at a fraction of the price. The grip feels like it belongs on the camera and there is no noticeable gap between the body and the grip. The free LCD screen protector they throw in is an added bonus.
