The SmartCode touchpad electronic deadbolt is a one-touch locking motorized deadbolt. With your personalized code, you can enter your home with the convenience of keyless entry and the one-touch locking button illuminates to provide increased visibility. SmartCode is easy to install, program and use, and operates on 4 AA batteries. It also features SmartKey Security as the back-up keyway. This single cylinder deadbolt can be locked or unlocked by using the keypad or key from the outside as well as the turn button from the inside. The Venetian Bronze finish is hand-rubbed to reveal unique bronze highlights and provides a rich and warm complement to the product's style.
For use on exterior doors where keyed entry and security is needed. Featuring SmartKey Security™, which protects against advanced break-in techniques and allows you to re-key your lock yourself in seconds.. SmartKey Security™ re-key technology is compatible with Kwikset (KW1) keyway. Deadbolt operated by electronic keypad or key from outside and thumb turn inside. Comes with 2 keys. Latch is 20 minute fire rated with round corner face . ANSI/BHMA grade 2 certified. Latch has adjustable backset 2-3/8" to 2-3/4" to fit all standard door preparations. Excellent Battery deadbolt
The deadbolt was simple to install and simple to change the furnished key to my regular door key. The lighted key set and low battery warning were the 2 features I wanted, but I would have liked also to have the automatic 'locking' (30 seconds) feature which is not available with this unit.

Functions very well
I recently purchased 2 of these SmartCode locks and installed one on my front door and one on a side door into the garage. The installation was pretty simple and straightforward on the door that previously had a dead bolt. The other door required preparation as it had not had a deadbolt. That was pretty simple also because I had the necessary tools and templates to prepare the door. The programming and rekeying of the locks was fairly simple, however, I cannot over emphasize the importance of following the instructions EXACTLY I enjoy the convenience of being able to lock and unlock the doors without a key. I highly recommend these locks..
