I needed something for newborn puppies and this worked out perfectly. I used the front corner to put heating pads and Momma felt safe being in there with her puppies. We lived in a tight space at the time so it was kinda impossible to find a quiet place for her which is why this was perfect. I also bought a black fence to go around it in our living room so when the puppies started crawling they would be safe and if mom needed some space from them she could come out as well. Once they started to follow her and she needed space she would let us know by tapping on the gate to let her out. But anyway this has perfect access from the side and the top by unzipping the top part or just taking the whole top off completely. The only thing I wish it did have was a bag to put it in when disassembled so I just used my old army bag. This is also perfect to use if my furbabies want to be near me while vacuuming and mopping. I recommend this. It's super easy to assemble and take apart too. Oh and I have three small dogs. Maltese, Shih Tzu, and Toy Poodle. My shihtzu had 5 puppies and there was more than enough room for them. None of my dogs weighs over 13 pounds.
