I have used this a few times while it's been rainy and it definitely keeps you dry. I haven't used it while it's been pouring down rain though but I'm sure it would still keep the water off me. It gets kinda heavy after a little bit so you need to switch hands with it. I noticed that when I was out for a walk in the rain a few days ago.
