Key item features
Excerpt from The Mexican Situation: From a Mexican Point of View The truth is that the Mexican disturbances constitute a real revolution, of apparently political aspect, but at the very bottom are of economic and social character. The present revolution is only the continuation. Of. The revolution begun in'1910. The present revolution's main purpose is to free the lower classes from the condition of near-slavery in which they have been held and to seek an improvement in their economic and social conditions. In Mexico the middle class is in a formative stage. One of the results of the present revolution will be to help create such a class, thus preserving a social equilibrium in the country. Where there is no social equilibrium, there is no lasting peace; and there is no democratic form of Government without a middle class.
