This camera has a bit of a learning curve, but once you master it, the photo quality is amazing! Auto mode is a good place to start, but auto quality is merely snapshot quality: Not bad, but not phenomenal. The various manual modes, once you learn to use them, definitely produce better photos that you can be proud of. The camera is heavy for its size and feels very solid. The hand grip is well placed and comfortable. You do need to be careful not to obstruct the flash with your finger while holding the camera. The electronic viewfinder is rather mediocre and may be useful in some circumstances, but it's not impressive. This has been improved with higher resolution in the newer model (ZS80) The controls are laid out in a logical fashion, but there are so many options, you may spend a few minutes looking for the ones you want until you memorize where they are.
