Cooking Instructions - General **Soak rice 10-15 minutes for extra grain length (optional). For enhanced taste, add 2 teaspoons of oil or 1 tablespoon of butter and a pinch of salt for each dry cup of rice prepared. To remove excess starch from rice, rinse Basmati Rice 1-2 times, then drain. For firmer rice, use less water and reduce cooking time. For softer rice, use more water and increase cooking time. **Stovetop - From Ambient **Bring 2 cups water to a boil in sauce pan with tight fitting lid. Add 1 cup rice, cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 18 minutes or until water is absorbed. **Microwave - From Ambient **Combine 1-cup rice and 2-1/4 cups water in a microwave-safe tray (1.5 qts - 2 qts). Cover tightly with microwave-safe lid and cook on high power setting for 15 minutes. Remove from microwave. Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time. **Caution: Container will be hot. **Other - From Ambient **Rice Cooker Instructions: **Use ratio: 1 cup (dry rice): 2 cups (water). See rice cooker manual for specific operation.

Better than Royal Basmati
I will choose Basmati as my second choice. My top choice is Zafran Basmati from Costco. Both Great Value Basmati and Zafran Basmati offer good quality and value for money, but Zafran is slightly more aromatic than Great Value. Personal preference plays a significant role, so it ultimately depends on your taste. If you want to compare Royal Basmati with Great Value Basmati, I believe Great Value is the better option.

I really like this rice. I've been buying it for a long time. It cooks very well and comes out nice and fluffy. I love how it turns out when I make it with chicken and vegetables, but it's also great just as plain white rice. It's very good quality and it goes a long way.
