This is a great movie because of the lessons that it teaches. Miss Dove was a dedicated teacher who never married; instead, she dedicated herself to her teaching and her students. She became beloved by many students because of the lessons she taught them that helped them live good lives. When she faces a crisis with her health, she is amazed at how many former students gather around her to share that what she taught them has helped them live better lives. Outwardly, she seems stern and demanding. However, her former students have realized that she has loved them by her expectations for them to be their best and by her uncompromising standards of getting a good education.
