I like the feel of wood, it has a well made 'cushion' and built in area for holding phone or small tablet as well as mouse surface. It is sized right - not huge or bulky yet still able to hold the essentials without headache. The weight is light but not cheap or flimsy. In fact, this has a nice quality feel. Very pleased!
