Hercules (2014) (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD) (Steelbook) (Walmart Exclusive)

This movie features Dwayne Johnson at his best. It kept me entertained through all 1 hour 41 minutes. Lots of great scenery and well-done special effects. As expected, there is no shortage of intense action sequences. The picture quality was good for 1080p, but I kept wishing there was a 4K HDR version of this film available. The sound is DTS HD Master Audio with up to 7.1 channels. With all available channels in use, this movie really takes advantage of the surround channels during those battle scenes. It was a very immersive experience, but once again I was wishing for a 4K release featuring Atmos to ratchet it up to the next level. It came with a digital copy that I redeemed through Vudu (Fandango at Home) in HD. This is despite it currently being May of 2024 and the digital copy saying it was subject to expiration after November of 2016. Thank you Paramount! The steelbook itself is attractive with Dwayne Johnson featured on the front and a group of soldiers on the rear. There is nothing too elaborate like metallic paint or embossing. Still, for under $15 it is a worthy addition to the collection. My order was fulfilled directly by Walmart and it was a great experience as is typical for steelbook purchases. They don't normally ship in cardboard boxes. The movie is sandwiched between somewhat sticky and slightly spongy layers of cardboard with ridges for some crush protection. Usually, there is at least 1 thick piece of cardboard covering the front for additional protection. If you are really lucky you get 1 of these on the front and the back. I buy a lot of steelbooks from Walmart and 90 % of the time they arrive in great condition. This was no exception as it arrived with no dents or other damage.
