iCrimp ASTM F1960 PEX-A EXPANSION TOOL KIT FOR PROPEX TYPE EXPANSION RING CONNECTION
Scope
The F1960 cold expansion fitting system consists of ASTM F1960 cold expansion fittings (F1960 fittings) in polymer and lead-free brass, and PEX reinforcing rings (PEX rings), for use with PEXa shield pipe for potable plumbing system applications and barrier pipe for hydronic radiant heating and cooling system applications.
The F1960 fitting system is intended for use in hot- and cold-water potable systems and hydronic heating and cooling systems.
F1960 connection is made by placing a compression ring onto tube, expanding tubing and ring, inserting a full-flow fitting, and holding in place until tube/ring memory secures the connection.
Designed exclusively for use within Type A PEX piping systems.
Kit includes convenient custom-molded carrying case, tool, expander heads and grease.
Expands Type A PEX pipe for ASTM F1960 expansion-style fittings.
Metal frame and gear mechanisms ensure the utmost durability.
Go/no-go gauges are never required.
Compatible with most cold expansion-style tools
Installation Problems:
Be sure tubing is cut squarely, tube is inserted into sleeve completely and fitting is inserted fully into tube/sleeve.
No rotation between expansions, or defective expansion head leaving a groove as a potential leak path.
Damaged sealing barb will not seal properly.
Failure to rotate tool inside tubing may cause unequal expansion. Remove any rings with unequal expansion.
Quick Guide
1. Square cut the PEX tubing perpendicular to the length of the tubing.
2. Slide the ProPEX Ring over the end of the tubing until it reaches the stop edge.
3. Fully expand tubing for several times and rotate tubing during each expansion.
General Connection Tips
If the fitting does not slide into the tubing all the way to the stop, immediately remove it from the tubing and expand the tubing one final time.
To avoid over-expanding the tubing, do not hold the tubing in the expanded position.
Experience, technique and weather conditions influence the actual number of expansions. Fewer expansions may be necessary under certain conditions. The correct number of expansions is the amount necessary for the tubing and the shoulder of the fitting to fit snugly together.
Cold-weather Expansions
Temperatures affect the time required for the tubing and ring to shrink onto the fitting. The colder the temperature, the slower the contraction time.
