Unint over 8-years? You need a new pump.

If you have a hot water circulation system that is over 8-years old and which uses this pump, you need a new pump. The impellers on these pumps will not last more that 8-years and maybe not that long. It is easy to check. Shut off the water and remove the 4-bolts holding the motor to the pump. Remove the motor and lightly tap the side of the cylinder that goes inside the motor coils. There you will see what is left of the impeller. Be sure to also order the two flat rubber washers that go in each of the connectors.

Lasts from 2 - 5 yewar

We use this for our hot water recirculating system. I noticed that the hot water was not getting to our faucets. I replaced the pump with the same model/make. The hot water is now hot within seconds. I took the old pump apart and the impeller blades were completed gone! I heard from other users that these pumps last from 2 - 5 years. Mine lasted 5 years. I ran it on the highest speed.

Impeller will fail within 2 years

The builder of our home installed this pump when the house was new 10 years ago to circulate hot water. over that 10 years I have replaced the pump 4 times and am about to do it again. The cheap plastic impeller fails every time - it disintegrates, making the pump useless!! I have contacted Armstrong several times about this but their only advise is "buy a new pump"!! and now they ignore my emails. As this brand/type of pump was originally plumbed into my hot water system, i'm sort of stuck. Replacing it with a different brand or type would involve a re-plumbing that is a big (expensive) job. I guess I'll replace it again. Be aware - the impeller with fail in 1 - 2 years!!
