I am confused by some of the reviews I read, which mention grits, etc. I think putting the name of the product you are reviewing might help the reader who is interested in your review. These are not Scotch Steel Cut Oats nor are they the 30 minute cooking time Quaker Steel Cut Oats but those that have been precooked so you only have to cook them 5 minutes. I agree that these are similar to Old Fashioned Quaker Oats, but when you are in a hurry and not using a Hot Pot Pressure Cooker, these are your best, healthy option. You can also put these oats or the 30 minute steel cut oats in water in a thermos or tight fitting container overnight so the cooking time is shorter. Quaker Oaks is a trusted brand name in all its products and I eat the 5 minute steel cut oats every morning or when I have time the 30 minute steel cut oats. They are very healthy and good for you. I would never use steel cut oats in the place of grits . Grits are made from corn. Quaker Oats does make excellent corn grits.
